Roaming the Sierra Nevada Foothills (Plus a few other places.)
The calendar does not lie; Nor do the wrinkles on my face. This coming fall, my wife and I will have lived in Rocklin 15 years! Not one to sit idle, I have been volunteering with local nature conservancies. I am currently on the board of the Dry Creek Conservancy. As I roam the Sierra Nevada Foothills, I’ve been photographing and creating short videos on our history and the ever changing landscape. (www.youtube.com/user/michaelstark1)
When asked by the Springfield History Club to follow up my last discussion “Japanese Immigration into the Sierra Nevada Foothills”, I pondered as to which new topic to choose. Flummoxed at making a decision, I reached back into my camera bag and pulled out an old presentation: “Roaming the Sierra Nevada Foothills (Plus a few other places). Why not update my old presentation by keeping the best of my old favorites, but adding newly discovered sites. From the Sacramento – Yolo County Line, we’ll travel east to Dutch Flats and from the confluence of the American River we’ll head north to the City of Lincoln. We’ll discuss each location with their historical significance.
